All currently enrolled students and employed faculty/staff at Washington International School have borrowing privileges for the Washington International School libraries and the District of Columbia Public Library.
All students are encouraged to use and borrow Tregaron Library materials. To ensure fair access to the collection for all, the student loan period for materials is two cycles. Students may renew items as long as no one else has placed a hold on the item.
Students are notified of overdue materials verbally and in writing. If outstanding materials are not returned, parents are informed of missing materials and the cost of replacing those materials. If library materials are still not returned, they are considered lost, and borrowers are asked to pay for their replacement (the book cost, plus $10 for processing). Lost book fees are added to the family's tuition bill.
Video equipment (tripods, cameras, microphones) is available for checkout to staff and students at the discretion of the Assistant Director of Academic Technology.
Media Technology equipment (laptops, keyboards, DVD drives, etc.) is available for check out to staff at the discretion of the Director of Information Technology. Students may request long-term loans with permission from their division's assistant principal.
Due to space considerations on campus, the Tregaron Library Program (TLP) does not currently accept book donations.
In rare cases where items are donated to the TLP, those that meet the selection criteria will be added to the collection. All others will, in turn, be donated. Please contact the Research and Media Specialist to make appropriate arrangements.
Persons or organizations wishing to make a financial contribution may do so with the understanding that no stipulations are accepted and the funds will be used at the school’s discretion. Please contact advancement@wis.edu for more information (Collection Development Policy 6).
